Biggest Loser Rules
1. Weekly Weigh-in & Winner
Every Monday morning, we weigh in and calculate the % weight loss since the last base weight reported in this chat.
- • The person with the highest % weight loss is declared Biggest Loser for that week
- • The other two participants each pay $5 into the designated account (see WhatsApp group description)
2. How % Weight Loss is Calculated
Formula:
(% weight loss) = (previous base weight - current weight) / previous base weight × 100
- Base weight: 100.34 kg
- Current weigh-in: 96.54 kg
- % loss = (100.34 − 96.54) / 100.34 = 3.78% (rounded to 2 decimal places)
3. Base Weight Rules
The base weight is our weight on the first Monday of each month, starting with Monday, 5 January.
After the first Monday weigh-in in January, on the following first Mondays of the following months we do two things:
- Calculate % weight loss from the previous month's base weight for that week (same method as usual). For example on the 2nd of February (first Monday in February) we will use the first Monday of the previous month (5 January) as the base weight for that week.
- Set a new base weight for the coming month (this becomes the reference for the subsequent Monday weighins for the month and of course the first Monday weigh in of the next month)
4. Celebration Meal
Meal out with wives on Friday 3rd July 2026 (or thereabouts), paid from the accumulated kitty of money collected over the 6 months from the non-biggest-losers' weekly contributions.
